Sloppy Steak Simulator

Dangerous Nights Crew

Your goal: slop the target, then get out. Hit the score at the top and the staff work out what you've done: everybody runs for the street, and half of you have to make it. Getting thrown out before then costs the crew 400 points. If closing time comes first, the staff win, unless you've wrecked their night badly enough that the till comes up short.

Get a steak and a water. Hold Space to pour, let go in the gold for a PERFECT slop, then mash Space to eat it before anyone sees. The next course is ordered for you as soon as there's room on the table. Points go to the crew's score.

Hit the target and it's time to go. “That's enough. Everybody out.” The staff have worked out what you did, everyone's on their feet, and at least half of you have to reach the street (front door, employee door, restroom window, patio hedge) inside 45 seconds. Push the staff past their last straw before that and the table's banned early: then all of you have to get out.

• Q Napkin over the plate (hides it); Q again takes it off.
• X Hold to mop: a wet table, and any spill on the floor in reach. The napkin stays where it is while you wipe.
• E “Excuse me!” brings a waiter over, and moves your order to the front of the queue. Use it when the kitchen's slow, or to pull a waiter away from a crewmate.
• F Knock your glass: a decoy splash, and a puddle behind your chair that staff slip in. On your feet: toss a carried water on the floor.
• C Trip: stick a foot out at a waiter passing your chair, or beside you when you're up. He's down for two seconds. If another one saw it, run.
• R Get up, or just hold a direction. When anyone's being chased, the first touch of WASD has you out of your chair and running; when the table's banned you're on your feet already. Up, you can fetch from the pass, steal from a regular's table, hand food to the crew. Shift runs: it's loud, and staff who see or hear it look harder at your table. When anyone's being chased, everyone runs for free.

Dares. Each of you gets one at a time, up to three a night, shown on the scoreboard: eat one in a stall, floor the Maître d', lift a plate in the chef's whites, that kind of thing. Each is worth 500 to the crew.

Animal style: on your feet with a steak and a water in your hands (lifted off the pass or a regular's table), hold Space somewhere out of sight to slop it right there, then mash to eat it. It pays double, and more if they're chasing you while you eat. A grab knocks it out of your hands.

The list down the left is your crew. When one of them is chased, grabbed, held or being walked out it flashes and says what gets them out of it, and an arrow at the edge of the screen points the way. Thrown out? You land on the sidewalk and walk back in. Your chair is still yours, and nobody is barred for it.

Seen slopping? RUN. Break line of sight for 5 seconds. Grabbed? Mash Space to break free; every grab is harder to shake. In the coat check? A crewmate holding Space beside you gets you out.

With a controller

Any standard pad works: plug it in and press a button. The stick walks. A is Space (pour, eat, serve, dive, steal), B gets you up, sits you down, hides you or puts the whites on, X napkin, Y mop, LB trip, RB run, LT “Excuse me!” (staff: backup), D-pad ↓ knock your glass. Start is the menu (and the host's Start), Select the map. On the screens, A is the big button and the others are labelled.

Truffoni's staff

WASD to walk. Your goal: close with the till at its number. Every plate you put down is $10, throwing someone out is $150 (and takes 400 off the crew's score), and every half star lost costs $150. If the crew slops their target they walk out, and you have 45 seconds to stop them. Hold Space at the pass to load what's on order: the tray takes a whole table's steaks and waters. Hold it beside any chair to set down everything that table ordered. Keep tables fed or you lose stars, and zero stars ruins the restaurant.

• Look at tables. A slop you see builds suspicion; catch them at it and they run.
• Space near a runner: dive. Got them? Mash Space to hold on.
• Lift napkins off plates. Dry steak under there and you look like an idiot.
• E Radio for backup.
• One of you is the Manager. Only the Manager walks people out the front door.
• Water on the floor puts you on yours. Stand at the edge of a spill and mash Space to mop it; you won't slip in one you're mopping. Tubs the busser gets to the ones you don't, and they dry in half a minute.
• When the crew hits their target, or the Fed Up meter tops out, the table is banned and they run for the doors. Staff can't follow them outside. Grab them and hold on: a grip they can't break is a catch.
